The Cardiff season ticket fund was put to good use in the boardroom...

...the Ridsdale way. Ranty Welshman Jack Rivers tells us how

Cardiff City have been shortlisted in no less than four categories at this year’s Football League Awards. Nothing out of the ordinary, granted. But get this… the club’s Platinum Ambassador season ticket scheme is up for Best Marketing Campaign Award!

Now, given the club’s current state, it doesn’t take a fucking rocket science to see the irony of it all.

For those of you who don’t know about CCFC’s oh so clever Platinum Ambassador deal, let me leave the club’s website to explain:

‘Help Dave Jones strengthen his squad in January. Anyone who buys a 2010-11 season ticket before December 31st will have their money REFUNDED if the Bluebirds win promotion this season. And the cash that comes in will go towards bringing in players during the New Year transfer window.’

Hmmm. Somewhere along the way, there’s been a major breakdown in communication and translation on Peter ‘I screwed Leeds over and I’ll do the same to you sheep shaggers’ Ridsdale’s behalf.

Presumably, when Mr.Ridsdale said he’d use that cash in the ‘New Year transfer window,’ what he actually meant was ‘to settle a £1.7million bill with the tax man that I’ve kept under wraps.’

Well, Pete, you’ve got 28 days to sort this mess out, or we’ll be joining Crystal Palace at the bottom of the administration bin.

How about extending that Platinum Ambassador malarkey until the end of February, eh? On second thoughts, don’t. You’ll probably use that money to pay your mortgage off…

Jack Rivers writes a belting blog called Healthy Scratch, featuring "Sport and Stuff like that...". Like the sound of it? See it here. Just don't forget to come back, ok?
