I am not sure about this t-shirt, I want my money back

We shoot the breeze with the US stand-up who also does a few bits for some show called The Simpsons. Sure it will catch on soon...

Here at ToePoke, we think we are quite funny (no laughing at the back). But even we must bow to the comedy genius of The Simpsons and Family Guy. So when we were offered the chance to interview Pablo Francisco, a regular voice contributor on both shows, we said yes pretty quickly. Turns out, the guy is also one of the Unites States' most popular stand-ups, one routine alone has over six million hits on Youtube.

Now he is bringing his anarchic brand of comedy to Europe, a mix of  jokes, impressions and beat-boxing that will dazzle audiences across the continent. He has also starred in a ad with Elton John, but we won't hold that against him.

So Pablo, how are you enjoying Europe so far, first time over here?

No man, I have been over here a few times. I am in Sweden at the moment and this is the third time I have been here. Don't ask me the name of the place I am in though, it's something like Malmonorregan. But Swedish people rock! Pity about the expensive drinks though.

When we think of an American travelling through Europe, we often think of National Lampoons European Vacation. Is it a bit like that for you on the road, travelling through the different countries on your tour?

It's not too bad but I tell you man, we have been lost a lot. I have a sat-nav with the voice of Mr T telling us where to go and he is like (in Mr T voice) 'fool, turn right at the next left' and we are like 'Yo Mr T, you took us into the middle of a forest!', and he is like 'shut your mouth fool, now take me to a gas station!' But apart from Mr T taking us on detours, it's been not too shabby.

Anywhere you are particularly looking forward to visiting on your tour?

Well, I really want to go to Dublin, drink some of the black stuff with the Irish, to be sure! We are also going to Africa, no idea what country but hey, what can go wrong. But next up we are going to Poland, looking forward to that too. But I am probably most excited about playing London. It's great playing over there, the audiences are so intelligent. I can tell a lot of jokes that I know the people will understand. English people, those dudes are just so intelligent!

Mmmmm...does depend a tad on which ones you meet. But that sure sounds like an epic tour  Pablo, talk about diverse crowds. We probably know you best for your work on The Simpsons and Family Guy. What's it like working on such seminal shows?

It's great, it really is. The best part about it is when you are doing the lines with one of the other actors and you make a mistake. Man, they chew you out while still in character, it's so cool. It's like, 'I am just getting it in the neck from Marge Simpson!' It's awesome.

Nice. As you know(or more likely not), we are big fans of sport here at ToePoke, except for the rubbish ones. What about you Pablo, big sports fan?

Well, it depends on the team that's playing. Minnesota Vikings, I watch them sometimes. Go Vikings! But women's basketball, now that I am not too keen on. Now, if they were naked, maybe I would be a fan. Actually, I am probably a fan of naked sports in general.

Maybe we will see some naked sports in the next Olympics. What about European sports, you enjoy any of them? I heard that you think 'soccer' players are all wimps?

Man, there are some crazy European sports. Look at that game rugby, what's all that about. It's like, 'dude, I don't need any padding, just give that frickin ball so that I can slam into people and slide on my knees!' But the soccer players, they get hit and they turn into babies. It's all like 'aggghh, I have been hit, help me! Waaahhhh, wahhhhhh!'

It's often said over here that people play rugby because they haven't got the skill to play football...What about the greatest game on earth , surely you must enjoy football Pablo? The real type of football.

You know what, I have been watching a lot of soccer. The part I really like is the passing, oh yes, the passing. It's like pass it over there, over here, pass it back over there. Passing is just great. I love the passing.

But passing is the fulcrum of what makes the game great. It allows the players to weave across the pitch like the fluid strokes of a master painter on canvas, the intoxicating patterns, a maze of artistry and skill. The trance like motions of white sphere contrasting sharply with the dark green backdrop, a vision of.... anyway, never mind. So do you at least have a 'soccer' team you support?

Not yet but I am looking for one to follow during my travels through Europe. Maybe whan I go to Poland i will find a great team that I can support, are there any great teams in Poland?

Er, not exactly. But they are pretty good at hooliganism. A word of warning Pablo, if you go to a game over there, just keep a low profile. It might not be the greatest venue to attend your first ever game of football. But we are sure you will be fine.

Ok ToePoke, thanks for the heads-up. You guys rock!

Pablo Francisco will be performing at the Troxy on the Thursday 22nd Oct for a one off UK show. His new live stand up DVD ‘Bits And Pieces’ is released on October26th 2009.
